Facebook does not allow members under the age of 13 to join the social network. Opening an account for a seven year old would be against their policy. I also believe a child should not be in an open environment like Facebook. You should check out children appropriate social networks, including ClubPenguin, JumpStart.com and neopets.com, before you expose your child to Facebook.
You must be at least 13 years old to register for an account on Facebook.
According to the Facebook Privacy Policy page:
"No information from children under age 13. If you are under age 13, please do not attempt to register for Facebook or provide any personal information about yourself to us.
