Where Is The Serial?The serial number for The Sims 2 and its expansion packs is located on the back of the booklet that came in the box with each game. The serial number for The Sims 1 and its expansion packs is located on the back of the CD case for each game. You will know it is your serial code because it is a long mix of numbers and letters separated by dashes that seem to make no sense at all, usually 16 characters. Each and every game has its own serial number.

You will not find "free" serial codes for a pirated copy of The Sims (or expansion packs) on WikiAnswers. This is just as illegal as pirating, even if you already own the game legally but need a new serial (read below on how to obtain one if so). Anyone found posting serial numbers on WikiAnswers may be blocked from this site and reported to the proper officials and/or EA company.

Installing Without The Serial

You cannot install these games and their expansion packs without the serial number. When installing the game, follow the on screen instructions. There will come a box that asks you for your serial number - this is where you will enter the number and installation will continue. You can't play the game at all if you don't install it with a serial number. You must also use this same serial number in order to register to The Sims website where you can interact with their forum and download free community objects. You can't register there without that serial number.

What To Do If You've Lost Your Serial

If you lost your original serial number for your game or expansion packs, contact EA Games at the website below and they will help you to obtain one. You may need a copy of your original sales receipt, but they will give you more instruction on what they will require before allowing you a new serial number. If you registered your game during a previous installation, you can also recover your serial number from the EA web site.
