That is bile, and it means that you have been either being sick on and empty stomach, or retching repeatedly until your stomach is so empty that bile comes up. It is horrible, isn't it? It is quite painful.
With any luck this stage will pass soon, but in the meanwhile, try that thing that everyone recommends, a biscuit(UK) cracker(US) by the bed and perhaps a little milk and have it before you get up and see if that helps.
If it doesn't, and you are sick, make sure that you have a little drink of water afterwards so that you don't get dehydrated. Try and eat, as an empty stomach makes you feel worse. Eat what you find at all tempting (within reason!). If nothing stays down, just keep drinking fluids.
Some people swear by mint tea, some by ginger beer, I found flat coke helpful, some recommend a small bowl of dry cereal for breakfast, some have been helped by those car sickness wrist bands from chemists.
