Right click on the laptop screen. Choose Graphics Properties, and under "Display Devices" Set the Operating Mode to "Extended Desktop". To the right of that, there will be two positions listed. Under Display selection, you can set the primary device to "Digital Display" which is your laptop, the secondary device should be set to "Monitor".
