Yes the iPod does but...
Watch out becasue MP4 can be coverted into 2 different codects:
1. H.264
and
2.Normal MP4
H.264 is for a mobile phone that supports MP4 in h.264 and
normal MP4 is for your apple device iPods.
Make sure the audio codec is in ACC and the video codec ine Mp4 NOT H.264!!!

Any iPod Touch that is third generation and is 32 gigabytes in capacity or above has a 50% processor speed increase over previous generations and lower capacities.
Essentially, they both work the same in terms of playing music and videos.
