Answer Is smoking cigarettes a mortal sin? I hardly think so; I would be surprised if it is. It certainly doesn't reach the spiritual significance of missing Mass, or eating meat on a lenten Friday. Answer In my opinion smoking will cause your health to deteriorate and sometimes may lead in to different types of cancer. So you are causing harm to yourself. That is similar to violating the fifth commandment, "Thou shall not kill". Following is stated in the Catechism of the Catholic Church; This information is illustrated in regards to the fifth commandment ("Thou shall not kill") Respect for health 2288 Life and physical health are precious gifts entrusted to us by God. We must take reasonable care of them, taking into account the needs of others and the common good. Concern for the health of its citizens requires that society help in the attainment of living-conditions that allow them to grow and reach maturity: food and clothing, housing, health care, basic education, employment, and social assistance. 2289 If morality requires respect for the life of the body, it does not make it an absolute value. It rejects a neo-pagan notion that tends to promote the cult of the body, to sacrifice everything for it's sake, to idolize physical perfection and success at sports. By its selective preference of the strong over the weak, such a conception can lead to the perversion of human relationships. 2290 The virtue of temperance disposes us to avoid every kind of excess: the abuse of food, alcohol, tobacco, or medicine. Those incur grave guilt who, by drunkenness or a love of speed, endanger their own and others' safety on the road, at sea, or in the air. 2291The use of drugs inflicts very grave damage on human health and life. Their use, except on strictly therapeutic grounds, is a grave offense. Clandestine production of and trafficking in drugs are scandalous practices. They constitute direct co-operation in evil, since they encourage people to practices gravely contrary to the moral law. Please follow the link below for more information.

Faith United: Disparate Faith Groups Come Together Against Big Tobacco
In 2005, the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and leaders from many different religious denominations launched a national campaign - Faith United Against Tobacco - to mobilize the faith community across the country to support proven solutions to reduce smoking.
Faith groups involved in Faith United include, among others, United Methodist, Presbyterian, United Church of Christ, National Council of Churches, Seventh Day Adventists, American Muslim Foundation, Southern Baptist Convention, Commission on Social Action of Reform Judaism, Church Women United, Church of the Brethren and Islamic Society of North America.
We were involved in Prohibition and against pornography and gambling as predatory enterprises. Fighting tobacco use also fits well with Christian and other faith groups' teaching in general that the body is a holy temple.

In certain religions--Mormonism, Seventh Day Adventists--it is considered a sin. Religious views aside, consider your health while making the decision to smoke (or not smoke). I hardly believe that God wants anyone to die of lung cancer! Some religions consider the body "the temple of the Lord". Would you smoke in a temple? Why jeopardize anyones' health, especially your own?
Catholics believe that surrogacy is a mortal sin.
Catholics view sin as an act that God finds offensive. Catholics believe there are two types of sin, venial and mortal. Whereas a mortal sin takes a person out of God's graces, a venial sin does not. Catholics believe that all sins can be forgiven by God; no sin is too big for God to forgive.
Catholics believe that if you die in the state of mortal sin, then you go to hell.
The Catholic Church does teach Catholics about being saved. To be saved, one must be in a state of grace, free from "mortal" sin (which cuts off one's friendship with God). The Catholic Church teaches that once you have been saved, you can lose your salvation by falling into a state of mortal sin, but also that even mortal sin can be forgiven, and salvation can be restored.
MORTAL SIN keeps your soul farther from god
Mortal Sin - film - was created in 1970.
Cloning of humans is definitely a serious (mortal) sin.
A Cardinal Sin Is a Mortal sin
The duration of Mortal Sin - film - is 1.17 hours.
No. A mortal sin is a sin that you know is seriously wrong and you know you are doing it. A mortal sin would be like if you seriosulsy injured someone on purpose.
I dont know if its a mortal or vinial sin.... But its definatley a sin. Just think about it, your mouth is not
The Catholic Church does not have a "list" of sins. Simply, a mortal sin is a sin that merits hell. For a sin to be considered mortal three conditions need to be met: * Mortal sin is a sin of grave matter * Mortal sin is committed with full knowledge of the sinner * Mortal sin is committed with deliberate consent of the sinner
