Yes. Smoking weed is never a good thing. The temporary high it provides does not outweigh the damage smoking can do to your brain and your body. Smoking when you are young and your brain is still developing can also be incredibly harmful to future brain development and brain growth.

The Marijuana Policy Project (mpp.com) has complete information about everything to do with marijuana, and the reason it's difficult to say what's bad about marijuana is because there isn't anything bad about it--maybe the smoking part-- despite what Ann Landers and the Feds say. The one and only thing wrong are the Federal Drug Laws that improperly rank it alongside morphine, cocaine and opium. Pharmaceutical companies can't patent it and they make big campaign contributions; the government can't attack the real "gateway drug", alcohol, because booze built this country and is as sacrosanct as cigarettes, the other "gateway drug" from the other founding commodity, tobacco.

Answer

All drugs can be used or abused. There are many valid uses for marijuana. Recreationally, it is less addictive and less harmful to your body than alcohol or cigarettes.

The answer below is a good example of the myths and lies about Marijuana. Nothing this guy says is correct... There's THC in Marijuana, it's a drug, it gets you high, and it is synthesized and sold by drug companies.

Perhaps someone else can post on comparative reaction times, I can't look it up right now, but I'd be really surprised if reaction times with MJ were any worse than with alcohol.

MJ does not make you paranoid. It has the opposite effect on many people. It can exacerbate pre-existing psychosis, but that's different. So can booze, so can prescription drugs. Booze has lots of calories, it can make you lazy and fat too, and alcohol is MORE toxic to brain cells. The "VERY addictive .. gateway drug" is either a jerk who thinks he's pulling a funny spoof or someone who's ignorant enough to believe a lie that went out in the '60s.

Answer

Marijuana makes your reaction time super slow...What is really happening when you smoke pot, is that your basically depriving your brain of oxygen and that's what gets you high. so that's a bad thing. It can make you very paranoid and some people start to think everyone is out to get them. There are NO recorded deaths from marijuana so the negatives arent life threatning. But it can make you lazy and fat because the THC makes you super hungry. It causes short term memory loss in most people! Because it kills brain cells basically by suffocating them. Also it is VERY addictive and is a gateaway drug. I hope this helps =D

You should not smoke it at all.

Smoking it while you're still developing can cause minor problems in some people.
