Research done by Alfred Kinsey in the U.S. in the 1940's suggests that approximately 2 - 3 percent of American men who responded to his survey were primarily or exclusively sexually attracted to other men. It's likely that 80 percent of humans are capable of sexual intercourse with another person of the same sex, even if we don't actually do it. So to some extent it depends on how you define "gay."
