Goebel was taken over by The Stroh Brewing Company in 1964. The Stroh Brewing Company continued the Goebel brand until 1999 when it sold most of it's labels to The Pabst Brewing Company, who acquired Goebel amongst them (most other Stroh labels were bought by The Miller Brewing Company). From what I have found while doing a bit of internet searching is that Pabst continued making Goebel until 2005....and then no more. And that sucks because I liked Goebel......good, cheap beer it was. I've read in a couple places while Surfing that Miller may have been contracted by Pabst to brew Goebel and that it may have also been brought back by a micro brewery somewhere, but I have never seen it and believe these tales to be just that....tales. I haven't seen any for a long time, so I believe the 2005 discontinuation info to be the most accurate. If anyone does see it out there let me know....hell, buy a few cases and send them to me. I'll pay the cost + shipping + reward.
I've added a link below to a cool video made by a couple guys who appear to be true fans of Goebel Beer.
