CVA stands for Conneticut Valley Arms. You have a reproduction of a Colt.
It should have the caliber marked on the barrel,such as"38 Colt New Police".
You need to call Colt
I suggest your read any writting on the barrel top. if it says anthing like 'italy', then it is a reproduction. If it has colt and a location it might be original...........

I assume you colt is a single action revolver ????? if so, made about 1888
