A close friend of mine that once upon a time was making a living as a scammer but has since moved on to more legitimate work, has once told me that: it is not very hard to spoof any phone number. he said he wouldn't apply for credit cards at ANY other site than the official bank website and double check the URL because you can spoof that too. for example there is a fake FAFSA site that comes up before the official government site on Google if you look carefully. it doesn't cost much to hire a few people to run a "call center". if they have a strong accent or ask for anything sensitive: DOB, Card# he advised me to hang up, if they are offering a loan or credit limit extension once again hang up, if it is anything financial...ask to call back. Do install apps that ask for permissions outside of what the app does. stay frosty folks! - A friend of a friend..

I've poured enough drinks to know that people don't always want advice—they just want to talk.
