Do not apply alcohol to a new tattoo. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER! Clean the tattoo with a mild anti-bacterial soap and pat (not rub)dry with a clean, lint free towel or T-shirt. The T-shirt I suggest because the cloth is a lot softer than a towel and anyone with a new tattoo KNOWS that the skin is sensitive for a bit. Most tattoo shops, and I speak from experience, sell a product known as Tattoo Goo or something similar. I highly suggest it! Once you have cleaned your tattoo, apply some of the Tattoo Goo to your tattoo. It keeps the skin lubricated, helps with the healing process, and relieves some of the itching. (Don't scratch!!)
