Florence and the Machine sometimes has lyrics that can be confusing. Songs like My Boy Builds Coffins, Cosmic Love, The Drumming Song, and Kiss With a Fist, all lead to assume that she is into men. The song Girl With One Eye, has such lyrics as "I slipped my hand under her skirt, I said don't worry it's not gonna hurt." This would make you think otherwise. The song Girl With One Eye is not an original of theirs. It was originally done by a band called the Ludes. She dated one of the band members and began covering the song. So, that's where the sexual reference to women would confuse you. She is not a lesbian. However, in a 2008 interview by Patrick Hussey from www.run-riot.com, she does admit to enjoying kissing women. She says, "Well you know girls kissing girls, it's alright! It's a lot softer and the French are, well you know, but I'm straight in England!"
