Depends on the level of chlorination.

in fact almost all fresh water which is delivered by a municipal system has some level of chlorine in it. This is to kill off any bacteria that may be in the water; this is not a very high level though.

Swimming pool water is also normally chlorinated for the same reason, although the levels of chlorine are higher and can irritate the eyes and mouth if too strong.
