In the UK it was Band Aid 20, with a re-release of the original Band Aid song 'Do They Know It's Christmas?', which was no.1 in Christmas 1984. Band Aid 20 was made up entirely of new musical stars rather than the original line-up, except for Bono from U2. In the USA it was Snoop Dogg featuring Pharrell, with 'Drop It Like It's Hot'.
It was probably Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran who sang the opening line of Do They Know It,s Christmas.
