i am experiencing the same problem in my new PC. My ISP isa saying my vendor has some sort of firewall installed that is preventing me to ping my defualt gateway.

I am also looking for the solution.

anyone?

The most likely answer is that your wireless card is not properly configured to connect with your network. The sent activity is coming from your wireless card attempting to contact the router and then the network; the lack of incoming packets means that the router is not receiving your sent signals.

I would suggest setting you laptop next to your wireless router and attempting to configure your network from there. This would eliminate almost all chance of being out of your router's range.

The configuration menus change by make and model of your router so I can't provide any specifics only a general list of steps to take.

First I would open up Command Prompt (Start>Programs>Accessories) and then type "ipconfig" and press enter. This will provide you with the general information and configuration of ALL enabled network devices that are part of your computer. This means that if you have a wireless card and an ethernet card (wired) the status will show up for both.

typing "ipconfig" will tell you your internet Protocal (IP) address. This will most likely be something like 192.168.0.X where X is a number between 1 and 255. If your IP is not within this range then your router has been altered from its factory settings and your problem would need hands-on help.

ipconfig would also tell you your subnet which should be 255.255.255.0 and your default gateway wich may or may not be displayed.

Sorry for the long answer but it isn't exactly an easy problem to solve. It would really help to have you trying the steps I have suggested while in communication so I may provide more specific answers.

Hope this helps

Your laptop does not detect wireless network your PC is connected to the router and internet works fine. The laptop detects networks elsewhere?

The wireless is not enabled on the router or the SSID is not being broadcasted. Both of these setting are in the router configuration. I would recommend calling the router manufacturer and have them help you enable the wireless, it's different for each model. Your desktop PC works because it's probably using a wired connection, which is enabled by default. Wireless is not usually enabled by default.

Go to your wireless router settings and change the "channel" to 01. This setting is in the Basic Settings/Wireless Setup. The default is set to "Auto". I then manually set up in Internet/Connection Settings on the DSi XL. Choose Advanced Setup and then choose Connection 4, Change Settings, enter the SSID, choose the correct security setting and then enter the key. This worked for me!

If I print wireless at work on laptop can I print with USB at home?

Yes you certainly can. The wireless connection at work and your USB connection at home are two separate and independent connections and they will be pointing to two separate printers, as a matter of fact you can set up a number of printers on your Laptop each will have it's own separate connection if you have multiple printers set up you will need to specify the particular printer you want to print to when prompted otherwise your print job will be sent to the printer you have designated as the default printer.

Wireless not working and is switched on but windows diagnostics says it is not on?

Try using utility from the wireless adapter manufacture. Also there are always two options to manage wireless cards. By default windows wireless zero does not have access to the wireless adapter. Try changing the last option in wireless adapter properties.
