Well, I think that the best advice anyone can give you is to always try to be yourself. If he likes sports (example: hockey) and you are not a big fan of it, you can talk to him about it, or you don't have to, and just be yourself by saying that you prefer another sport better. Then, you can see if he likes that other sport too, and there you go - a common liking.
If you have some really good friends, you can ask them to talk to him, and try and find out what types of things, sports, activities, clothing, or other things he likes, and if you want to you can do all that stuff with him. Play sports, or buy some cool new clothes you think he might like, and try to get his attention. From there on, BE YOURSELF as much as possible, and talk to him a lot, about his hobbies, or favorite things to do. I think you will have some sort of a connection, and he might start to like you.
