- When a man has a mistress everything is new and wonderful and most men believe they are truly in love even though it is mostly about sex. Yes, he does regret cheating on his wife and he cannot take back the hurt he has caused his wife so he regrets that as well. Once the bond of trust is broken by a husband it is difficult for him to get back, but, it appears their marriage is getting stronger and it is a good thing he regrets cheating on his wife (he is not blaming you for it.)
