Depends on the promise. Obviously you cannot keep a promise that states: I will not breath another breath for as long as I live, or other such ridiculous promises that deify human life. A common promise such as: I will always love you, is dependent on your definition of always. Always, as in literally forever or as long as you live. To sum up, depends on the promise.
