For starters, please understand that you have to be able to get out of whatever you get yourself into. There are ways to put yourself into inescapable bondage for a period of time, but you will be unable to protect yourself if something goes wrong -- truly inescapable self-bondage requires a monitor: a friend who can check up on you.

This primary caution: do not put anything around your neck unless it's not attached to anything and it's really loose. Over an extended period of time, a collar that's even a little bit tight can cause swelling that can interfere with breathing.

So start with some basics: There are two types of bondage. One type involves binding yourself, the other type involves binding yourself to something (a post, the bed, a tree, etc.)

There are degrees of bondage, ranging from a simple leash to fully enclosed rigid bondage allowing almost no movement.

There are various things to be bound with: rope, chain, leather straps. Assuming you're a beginner, let's use rope, which is inexpensive and readily available. Cotton is best, at least "sashcord" thickness, about 1/4" diameter. Anything thinner can be really hard to untie.

Finally, you have to decide if you want to masturbate while bound.

With these thoughts in mind:

Start with your feet. Wrap a rope around your ankles, not too tight -- three loops should be enough. Now, take one end of the rope and pass it between your ankles and around the loops. Wrap the loops as much as you want and then tie off the end of the rope. (Use a square knot -- it's one of the easiest to undo when you're done.) The idea is to have a fairly rigid link between your ankles.

That's the basic technique -- experiment until you have a good sense of how tight to make things. If your toes start to tingle or go numb, it's too tight!

Now lie down on the bed (for example) and tie your legs the same way, just above the knee.

Finally, make a few loops around your wrist and tie them off. Now twist your wrists to twist the loops snug. You're bound (until you untwist your wrists) but you can still play with your genitals.

Another experiment:

Tie lengths of rope to the corners of the bed. (Around the legs, using a clove hitch secured with two half-hitches.) Loop the end of two ropes around your ankles, lie back and make a loop in one of the remaining ropes just big enough to slip your hand through. IMPORTANT -- do not use a slip knot! Practice getting out of the loop without using your other hand. When you've got the knack, tie the other hand, then slip the remaining hand through the loop. It will take you a little effort to get the looped hand free, but you can do it.

And this -- take a length of rope and pass it between the mattress and the box spring even with your waist. Then use the loop technique to secure your hands, or wrap the ends of the rope around your waist to tie yourself to the bed.

One last suggestion: find a pamphlet about knots and learn a few. You will find this very useful knowledge as you improve on these basics.
