The classes were clearly portrayed. Fred represented those that were upper middle class and felt that Christmas was a time to to atleast do something to help. This was suppported by the Portly Gentlement who asked Scrooge for a donation. The poor were represented by Bob Cratchit. These were peope who had little but tried to keep their lives going no matter how difficult work was or how awful the employers treatment . The Children beneath the robes of The Ghost of Christmas served to tell us of the reason for the deptivation - Scrooge was a figure who represented those that had money and were determined to keep that money no matter who suffered as a consequence. This was a wide portrayal of the mine owners and factory owners of the time that used child labour, hired and fire people at will, took no care over their employees or what could happen to them and didnt care if they lived or died as there was always someone else to employ

In "A Christmas Carol," the classes were portrayed as distinct and disparate, with the wealthy characters exemplifying greed and indifference, and the poorer characters embodying resilience and kindness. The story emphasizes the importance of generosity and compassion towards those less fortunate, bridging the gap between the classes through acts of charity and empathy.
