Mexican as well as Mexican-Americans were segregated just like the blacks were during the Jim Crow Law era. They were not permitted in certain stores and establishments that were "white only". They were also targeted during the zuit suit era and the women were raped and the men beaten. And even now we are somewhat segregated. Yes, we have rights and freedom (as a Mexican-American or a legalized citizen from Mexico, not an illegal Mexican immigrant from Mexico), but we are still looked down on and all called illegal immigrants. Mexican-American are not immigrants at all for that matter. And even the Mexicans from Mexico who come here llegally are discriminated also.
