Ole Kirk Christianen founded the LEGO group in 1932 in Denmark. Lego bricks were originally wooden. In 1942 the company switched to producing plastic bricks. The world famous interlocking Lego bricks were patented in 1958.

Lego was invented by a man named Ole Kirk Christiansen in the early 1930s as he saw a gap in the market for good quality children's toys. The company didn't get branded 'Lego' until 1934 and it wasn't until 1947 that he started to produce plastic toys which similarly resemble the ones of today.

It first started out as a wooden & metal toy company then it featured its first interlocking blocks, which were hollow. Then it moved on to mini figures which caused the group to make Sets. Then in the years, Lego came to what it is today!
