according to the book "What to expect when you are expecting" it varies depending on your normal weight (BMI calculators can be found easily online). According to this book, the ACOG recommends:
Underweight: "your practitioner may advise you to gain a little extra -- possibly 28- 40lbs"
Average: 25-35lbs
Overweight: "gain 15-20lbs"
Obese: "gain no more than 15lbs"
If you are pregnant and do not yet own this book, I suggest going and buying it right now! I bought my most recent edition through ebay...though I also bought an older/used one at once upon a child for $2.50 (I forgot I had that one when I bought my new one!)
of course if you crave banana splits or fastfood cheeseburgers...you just might gain a little more!! (the numbers can skyrocket if you aren't careful!) :o) This book helps you understand and make good food choices that ensure that your baby is getting the proper nutrients for brain development, bones, etc.

Depending on your size, you should weight 25 to 30 pounds more at the end of the pregnancy than at the beginning. This is important! If you do not gain enough weight, it means that they soon-to-be baby is not getting the nutrition that it needs.
Just walk as much and as often as you can. That's all you have to do. Watch your weight-gain. If you gain a lot of weight (over 20 pounds) you will have a hard time delivering your baby.
Yes; it actually aids in weight gain. Although, horses can become hot off of too much. Feed in small amounts solely for weight gain purposes.
Well, typically you gain weight when you are pregnant, but when I was pregnant I lost some weight at the beginning because I started eating really healthy and quit drinking soda, so I initially lost weight from that. Then started gaining as the baby grew. If you loose too much weight, your doctor will help you figure out why. Always see a doctor!
