I have been asked this before, and as a professional body piercer and studio owner I have to tell you that there is no better way to measure how you have treated a client than by how they tip you. Unlike tipping at a restaurant or hair salon, I found that my clients always go for the personal touch. Some tip in cash (with accepting debit card payments they can add it to the total on the terminal when they pay) others tip in a completely different way. I have had some clients bring in fresh ground dark roast coffee ( I can't resist a good dark roast coffee ), others have brought in store bought muffins, cookies and other taste treats.
So to answer the question it's more a question of how happy you are with the service, the knowledge and ultimately the treatment you received from the piercer. There is nothing that states, "you must tip your piercer" and in the same jest, trust me there is nothing worse than someone who expects to be, "tipped". It is meant to be your way of saying an extra special, "thank you very much". How much you tip is really up to you, consider the service you received, the work that was done and ultimately how happy you are with your over all treatment you received from your piercer. On average $5.00 ~ $10.00 is not out of line for a tip following a piercing, if you are a frequent client well hey good coffee is always enjoyed by all the staff at the shop and it's always appreciated. Mind you having you as a client is always a good thing too, remember you are paying there wages and that's a good thing.
If they didn't charge you for the service, be nice generally $5.00 is plenty but if you want to impress the piercer, ask for some business cards and pass them to your friends who are looking for piercings. We all like tips but referrals are always welcome.
I went to my piercer to get mine changed, and it hurt like heck. Probably as much, if not more, than when I pierced it.
Every shop is different, but I have seen them range around 50 to 70 dollars, plus a tip for your piercer
It could just be from the way the piercer handled it or the clamps.
You should tip the bellhop a minimum of fifty dollars
You should tip them around $5 dollars. Or more. =)
not enough!
Well you need to see your piercer, there is a tool for holding the shaft on the dermal that needs to be used in order to change the top. So it's off to your professional body piercer.
About 20% of your meal.
In Japan, it is not customary to leave a tip at restaurants. If you are in America, it is generally accepted that a tip should be 15 - 20% of the bill for good service.
10% of how much you spend
