Adults are about $10. If you want to get one as a pet, get a younger rat. Rats do not live very long ... 2-3 years. 4 if you're really lucky and you take awesome care of them. I've had well over 80 so far. I'm kind of an expert here.

At Petco they mainly sell very small girl rats for six dollars and the bigger ratyou want the more it costs.I dont recommend these because they dont let you pick these up or inspect them.I saw one that was bleeding and it seemed pretty agressive.At Petsmart rats are also mainly female.Dumbo rats are twelve dollars and Fancy rats are ten.These rats seem a lot calmer, plus you get to inspect them.I also recommend adopting one from a breeder or from an animal shelter because these rats do not have such a high risk of being sick as the others,

They are usually around 4 to 8 dollars. When I got mine it was only 2 and I got him at Ace Hardware. I saw a Blue Rat at the pet store that was $12.99. hey x im trying to persuade my parents to let me get one and like u probably i came on here to work out the prices if you want the prices in pounds and not dollars here they are : normal rats- £7.83 dumbo rats- £9.79

It varies depending on where you get your rat from. Pet stores usually cost the most and it is preferable anyway to get your rat from a breeder.

Please do also consider rat rescues where you can give a good home to an unwanted rat :)
