The reason they named it "Pear Phone" is because of copyright issues. Like all companies should be doing (some companies are breaking some rules) you cannot really mention or advertise any product without the permission of the developer and the Pear Phone idea was kind of funny and likewise a funny rip-off of the highly popular Apple iPhone. Even the computer they use is renamed from a Mac to Pear and they created a custom OS using Linux to avoid illegal advertising
