In the conditon you describe, this is a shooter, not a collector gun. It would bring about $400 since it was made before 1964 and has hand-cut checkering instead of pressed checkering. IMPORTANT!!! The Winchester 100 has a recall in effect, and Winchester strongly recommends that you do not shoot your 100 until it has been repaired. The number to call to find out if your rifle has been repaired is 1-800-852-5734. Give them the serial number and they will tell you immediately whether it has been repaired by having the firing pin replaced.
If the firing pin has not been replaced, you can send it to one of the shops listed in the phone message, and they will repair it without any charge to you. If you shoot it without the pin replaced, the bolt may not close properly and it will shoot all 4 shots like a machine gun, or it can blow out the side of the receiver.
I just picked one up the same condition for $1250.00 U.S.
I just picked one up at a gun auction here in Michigan and paid 1,500 dollars for mine.I have seen them go for between 1,395-1,600 dollars;new in the box unfired, including the box, pamplet and breech plug safety device.
I just picked one up for 10 dollars at Big Lots. So prolly 10 dollars.
1967 gun. This gun had a 'black chrome' type finish on the receiver that flakes and chips terribly, leaving white pinpoint spots or scratches. With the current demise of USRAC, the post-64 guns have picked up in value and even these rifles and bringing $250 or more in mint condition. sales@countrygunsmith.net
My dad picked one up for ten grand, and it was in pristine condition with no rust

It depends who's doing the picking. I have picked, you have picked, they have picked, we have picked; but he / she / someone (named) / something has picked.
for one in very good condition possibly $400, more likely $300. I just picked one up in excellent condition for $250 at a jockey lot.

I picked up a digital multimeter at Harbor Freight Tools for 3 dollars last month. (August of 2011)
Winchester made a few models of the .22 cal. lever action. One particular model the model 9422 will handle the long rifle and long cartridges interchangeably, or the special .22 WMR, magnum, version that handles the WMR round only. The 9417 model is chambered for the 17 HMR round only. Winchester also made the model 255 in .22 WMR from 1967 to 1970. Harder to find than the newer 9422, but a very good rifle. Just adding that Winchester actually introduced and produced the model 255 in 1964 instead of beginning in 1967. My father works for Winchester and he looked it up in the book for me while at work. I recently picked one up at a garage sale for 25 dollars in excellent shape. I never see them for sale always the 9422 which they made tons of. the 255 is a more rare rifle indeed.
