Westernfield was the brand name sold by Montgomery Wards Department Stores but made by contract from other gun makers. Your model was made by Kessler who offered their own model 128FR. It is probably the same gun. Depending on condition, one can be had for about $100.00
SN's not required before 1968
The model 228FR was made by kessler under model number 128.Most parts are interchangeable with the model 30C.
Without looking through all 1700 pages of the Blue Book looking for this model number, let's say $100-$150. That's about what almost any utility bolt action 12 gauge will bring.
Not much info out there on Kessler Arms Corp. What is known is that these guns were made from 1951 - 1953.
where can you get a mag for a 16ga KESSLER model no MDL228FR

I am not sure but I have several Kessler shotguns 12, 16 and 20 gauge. If you remove the barrel from the stock. right in front of the trigger assembly. There should be a number like this 10 51, or 2 52. I think the first number is the month and the second is the year. All my Kesslers have a 51, 52 or 53 as the last 2 numbers. So i am guessing the first is the month. I have nothing higher than a 11 for the first. Kesslers in mint condition sell for $125 to $30 dollars according to condition. they were also only made for three years 1951-1953.the company then filed for bankruptcy, and numrich gunparts bought out the leftover parts. these guns were sold mostly in catalogs.
