how many boxes of wood flooring would i need if there are 19.72 sq feet in a box to cover 640 sq feet of an area?
It depends on how many square feet the box will cover. I found two different brands: one covered 22.93 sqft, the other 17.59 sqft. your room is 12' x 14' = 168 sq.ft so 168 sqft / (22.93 sqft / box) = 7.32 boxes for my first example and 168 sqft / (17.59 sqft / box) = 9.55 boxes for my 2nd example Hope this helps

Would greatly depend on how many feet in a box. Not all makers pack the same amount, so you would just have to divide 240 by # of feet in box. You will want to add about 10% for waste.
That depends on the laminate flooring that is being purchased. There are many factor from sizes and numbers that would be needed to determine this, however the side of the box always specifies how many square feet there are.
The box will have a square foot coverage on the box. Multiply 198x185=36,630 square inches There are 144 inches in a square foot. Divide 36,630 by 144=254.375 Divide 254.375 by the number on the box. If you have ANY remainder then round UP. You can't round down. Also, many contractors add 10 percent to help with measurement.

Linoleum is a continuous sheet, a sort of a vinyl with a bit of give to it.Laminate is a series of slats joined together, sort of like formica with a masonite backer. There's a lot more seams for liquids to leak into in laminate then linoleum. The working lives are about the same for each, but as most laminates are floating systems and linoleum is glued down, the laminate will be cheaper to replace when the time comes.
