around 800 (798) if you are shooting in a jpg format :)
You need a bout 12
The correct answer to this question is, "It all depends." Every camera resolution saves photographs of a particular size, and depending on your camera's resolution you can calculate the image size. As an example, a 4 megapixel camera, saves a 300 kilobyte file. So you calculate the capacity of your memory card as (1024x256)/300 = 800 images 1024 kilobytes make 1MB. 1024 multiplied by 256 gives you the capacity of your memory card in kilobytes. Divide that, by the size of your photograph, to arrive at the number of pictures your memory card can store. In my 12 megapixel Nikon D300 camera, I get jpeg images that are about 2.5mb, which in kilobytes workes out to about 2560kilobytes. This in turn means that a 256 mb card can hold (1024x256)/2560= 102 photographs or so...
If you are shooting in Jpg format, what most people use, and each photo is 12 mega pixels the average size of each photo will come out to be about 2.5 MB, allowing the card to hold about 798 photos. If you were shooting in raw each photo would be a size of about 18 MB allowing you to fit about 112 photos on the card. So if you shoot in raw and empty your card frequently a 2 GB memory card will fit enough photos in with no prob. I have a 2 GB card and shoot Jpg and have never ran out of room.
Different models of Sony dSLR will have different specifications. Most are between 12 and 15.4 megapixels but check into the model you are interested in for confirmation
Twelve megapixels is probably a little higher than average when it comes to most cameras today.
A lot ! As an example - My Fujifilm Finepix S2750 cam - at 12 Megapixels, will take 680 shots at max resolution to fill a 2GB card !

You can figure it out by dividing 2GB (2 billion) by 12MP (12 million) which works out to roughly 167 photos. The camera compresses the photo data, so you will actually get more photos (something like 200 photos I would guess)
It has a 0.7 and a 5 megapixels cameras on the ipod 4G
12 megapixel cameras can be bought from many different stores and retailers. Some examples that sell 12 megapixel cameras include Crutchfield and BH Photo Video.
About 650 pictures.
