he Marlin Model 88 was made from 1948 to 1956. It was replaced by the Model 89. The Model 88 was one of Marlin's less expensive guns, and therefore did not get serialized. Prior to passage of the Gun Control Act of 1968, guns were not required to have serial numbers, and Marlin did not serialize many of the less expensive models. It required an extra manufacturing step that added to the cost, so it was omitted. The Model 88 would have had American black walnut used for the stock.
A lot
The 2200 was only sold in Canada. No way to know how many were sold as those records have not been researched to date AFAIK.
Some had 4 .5 in machine guns and some had 6. It all depends on the model and time period.
If you are refering to just the model 1894, a serial number search turned up the following information. Serial number 15,579 was made in 1894. Serial 15,580 was made in 1895.
I'm not so sure what the model 101.7 is, but I purchased guns for Sears for many years. I do own three Sears guns. I have in my gun case a Sears 101.7D that was manufactured I believe by Savage Arms at the time. Any questions, my e-mail is dorlerl@yahoo.com
