Ok, that stuff was junk. You burn about .2 calories per sit-up for the average person. So in other words, 10 sit-ups burns 2 calories. If you're looking to lose weight, I suggest jogging, walking or running. Again based on the average weight and height 1000 sit-ups is equivalent to jogging, running, or walking from around 2.5 to 3.5 mi. for the average person. Pick your poison. DO one of them for 17.5 days eating around the recommended amount of calories per day, and viola, you have lost a pound, though it also helps to switch out some foods, like eat an apple instead of a candy bar, trade in 2% milk for skim, eat vegetables to your meal, grill rather than fry. All these things will help.
directly @topic: .2 calories
On average, a person burns about 1.5 to 2 calories per pull-up.
about 550 per minute
This depends on how quickly you jog or how high you pick your legs up but generally 3-5 calories a minute can be burned this way.
Barely any, maybe 1 or 2 calories for a whole situp.
It would be practically impossible to lose weight just with exercise alone. An average person weighing 145 lbs. would need to perform a total of 17,500 sit-ups in order to burn a pound of fat which is equivalent to 3500 calories. This is why doctors recommend combining diet and exercise.
The amount of calories burned will vary according to the intensity of the ride you went on, but in general the amount of calories burned by the average rider on a average trail ride are about the same as those burned in a game of doubles tennis. If the ride was more intense then the amount of calories goes up from there.
reading about it myself, one site say no calories and others say 350, video on youtube say up to 500... i think its fibs and no calories are actually burned !
How many calories will u burn if u run up a flight of stairs? Answer: close to 300 calories u will burn
The number of calories that you burn doing sit ups depends on how fast you do them. Your weight also determines the amount of calories burned due to the amount that you have to lift. if you weigh 150 pounds and do 100 sit ups in 10 minutes, you will burn approximately 57 calories.
You can burn as many as 100 calories per hour just swimming casually in salt water. You can burn up to 500 calories per hour if you're swimming vigorously.
If someone is swimming for 35 minutes just for fun, it will burn around 300 calories. If swimming using specialized strokes, it could burn up to 500 calories.
Insignificant. The point of exercise isn't the number of calories burned, but about toning muscle and getting EVERYTHING to work at a higher level. If you look at the calories burned for a specific type of exercise, it's a devastatingly small number. But if you look at the number of extra calories that you'll burn by the end of the day following vigorous exercise, it's impressive.
