Depends on the type of grenade, and how far away- but at 30 meters, it is as loud as anything you have ever heard. It is louder than a shotgun louder, than thunder, louder than the loudest slammed door.
Usually the core of the grenade and the firing pin are reusable. you put a CO2 canister inside and when the pin drops it punches a hole in the CO2 canister. the gas quickly leaks from the metal cylinder and into the space outside. the metal cylinder is inside of a plastic "grenade" shell which looks like a grenade. when the gas enters the shell it expands until it explodes making a very loud sound, but not throwing any shrapnel.
It is usually caused from too loud of an enviroment, if this happens often see a doctor.

That's an unusual grenade you have there. I'll need another grenade, Sarge!
A frag grenade is a sphere shaped grenade and a pineapple grenade is narrow but some what wide, but there is no difference in explosions. I mean, one might go farther when you throw it but who knows.
Put the works toilet cleaner in a plastic bottle and it makes a loud boom! But doesnt really do much damage like a grenade or something like that.
A grenade can be a variety of different colors. The M67 grenade is an olive green with a yellow band at the top
The hand grenade hasn't been replaced - it's still in use worldwide, even with the most technologically advanced military forces. Rifle grenade launchers, grenade launchers, and underbarrel grenade launchers were developed not to replace the hand grenade, but as a means of filling the gap between a thrown hand grenade and a mortar.
