How long do you have to wait to go in the pool after piercing your belly button?

2-3 months. Don't swim in pools, oceans, lakes, or anything else. Yes, the ocean has salt in it but it's also FILLED with germs. Swimming with a new piercing is just begging for an infection.

Is it good to swim in a chlorine pool with a almost 3 month old belly button piercing?

At three months the piercing should be healed, at least mostly. That means that swimming in chlorine will not affect it. Still steer clear of lakes and streams.

Risks of swimming with belly button pierce?

Don't swim in toilet bowls. After swimming in municiple swimming pools, wash the piercing. Stay out of lakes and natural bodies of water that have high bacterial counts, your local health unit will have the bacterial counts for the most popular lakes in the area. As for any activity where the piercing may become dirty, have a shower and clean the piercing. This includes being in the hot tub, wash the piercing out as soon as possible.

How do you convince your mom to let you get your belly button pierced now amd not wait closer to summer?

The best way would be to tell her about how long your piercing will take to heal (up to a year in some cases). Also tell her about how you will not be able to swim during the first months of getting the piercing and the fact that while the piercing is healing your not suppose to sweat around the area, because of infections and stuff. Don't freak her out too much though cause she might just say no in general. This worked with my friends mum. Good Luck!

Can you swim after tongue piercing?

Is it bad if you get a belly piercing and swim after a couple weeks?

Yes, because your piercing is still healing and open to bacteria. I would wait at least TWO months.

When can you get your belly button pierced?

Every one is different. Some peoples' start to poke out by the 2nd or 3rd month whereas some peoples will not poke out until the 8th or 9th month if at all! I carried my son for 9 months, and my belly button never poked out. Some day's I would think it was going to, and I gained 80lbs while pregnant, but it never popped out. Mine stayed right where it was for the whole pregnancy

I'm a swimmer if you get your belly button pierced do you have to stay out of the water Will it get infected if you don't?

Yes, if you get ANY piercing you need to stay out of the water until it is fully healed. With a belly button piercing this means that you may need to refrain from swimming for up to six months. There are some people that can never heal a navel piercing and because of this you need to be very careful no matter how long you have had it. Consult your piercer if you have any further questions. To answer the second part of your question yes it will get infected there are a lot of bodily fluids and mucosa in public pools and you don't know what those fluids and mucosa may carry. When you swim with an open wound you are also putting yourself at risk to contract hepatitis, HIV and other pathogens that transfer in the same way. The likelihood of this happening is very slim, but still a possibility. Another factor with pools is that chlorine will irritate normal (unpierced) skin so with an open wound it will probably become extremely irritated and when a piercing is irritated it can and probably will lead to rejection or migration of the piercing.
