The idea of a Nuclear War between both Soviet Russia and the USA. A term called M.A.D. was developed, saying that if one nation launched its nuclear weapons, the other country will soon launch theirs shortly after, ultimately destroying the world in a nuclear war.
The development of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) during the 1950s made long-range bombers obsolete. ICBMs provided a much faster, more direct and accurate means of delivering nuclear weapons to distant targets, making the need for manned long-range bombers less relevant in terms of strategic deterrence.
The actual nuclear warheads are not that large, less than a cubic meter. However, what is usually shown both in public and propaganda are the warheads loaded on to long-range or intercontinental ballistic missiles, which are significantly larger than the warhead, but have no nuclear content other than that in the warhead.
Its been around over 2000 year
years
The first one was detonated on July 16, 1945.
The UK has been nuclear for a very long time. It has lots of nuclear energy stations and lots of nuclear weapons.
The long term result of the use of the Atomic bomb by the US in WW2, has been building new and larger nuclear weapons/bombs. Despite the advances in nuclear activity, it can clearly be seen that the "fear" of using the mass destruction of nuclear weapons has been that no more nuclear or atomic bombs have ever been used again.
Anywhere, as long as you have the money.
Without nuclear weapons, another nation with nuclear weapons could launch an attack without worry of a retaliation. There are not that many ways of diverting a long-range ballistic missile.
So long as nuclear weapons and the motive and means to use them exist, yes
I believe it would very likely become a hot war long ago, probably a conventional WW3. Nuclear weapons scared people a lot, but probably prevented another global war.
Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START)
Germany did have a nuclear weapons project in WW2, but they had problems that prevented much progress. The program was scaled back by 1943 to just a long term nuclear reactor project intended to make power reactors after Germany won the war.
Need to specify a time period in order for this to be answered. Spain has been around for a very long time, and has seen many changes to its weapons inventory.
Since not long after the formation of the first stars, over 11 billion years ago. It is a product of stellar nuclear fusion.
They are a part of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. They want the world to be free of nuclear weapons and also want to be part of making the world a safer place. "As a State Party to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, Bosnia and Herzegovina is fully committed to implementing the Treaty and stands ready to contribute to the international efforts to ensure its universality as a long term goal in promotion of security and prevention of proliferation of nuclear weapons in the world."
