If the stucco is made with plaster, it lasts until you remove it. Although moving furniture close the wall may rupture the surface. The durability of the surface is directly dependant on the quality of your plaster. If you choose gypsum plaster, the surface is fragile and soft and very easy to redo or smooth. If you choose mortar or staff plaster the stucco is usually 'for ever' as removing the plaster is not an easy task.
