They don't swell. see a doctor if they are.
Well you just have to stay on top of cleaning the piercing even with a cold. Taking the jewellery out will do nothing but loose the piercing for you. Put the jewellery back in clean the piercing and leave it alone. The cold will go away and the piercing will heal.
Lip piercings if you are following your written aftercare to the letter, should show a decrease in swelling by the two week time period.
A nose piercing, should you no longer want to have it, will usually heal itself and present a scar afterwards.
When you first get a piercing, redness aroud it is perfectly normal. Depending on where it's pierced will determine how long it's going to stay irritated. Most of the time a piercing will be red for the first 2-4 days and be swollen. If it persists then I'd go back to the piercer.
Your nasal passages are inflamed and swollen - that is why it's hard to breath. Decongestants will alleviate the swelling somewhat.

i have had mine for a couple months and i can keep mine out for 42 minutes for gym class and it begins to hurt before i put it back in.
Once any piercing is *seasoned (*over a year old ), so long as the jewellery is appropriate for the piercing in gauge and length or diameter the piercing will not stretch unless you change it to a larger gauge. So will you have this big gaping hole in your lip? Well no, if you stay with the jewellery you are sized to it should stay the same size during the *life of the piercing (* this is for however long you choose to keep the piercing ).
wear a bandaid on it and stay you cut it or have a zit or something, but this trick won't last forevr
Usually, yes. They just get bumped more and stay cranky longer.
