You wanna wait at least 3 months to start stretching. You don't want to wear plastic plugs or tunnels but tapers are fine only because you don't wear them. Never leave a taper in after stretching because it'll make a thin spot in your lobe because of the uneven weight.
first of all,you should not be using tapers to stretch your ears.use bondage tape.tapers are horrible for your ears. but,if you have to,use hydrogen peroxide.

Yes. Vitamin E oil is perfect for lubrication while stretching. Its also good for lobe massages.
Well 18g and 16g are neighbours in the gauge world, 14g is the next largest gauge from 16g so you would just be stretching the piercing up to 14g. All stretching should be done with proper tapers and ultimately done by a professional body piercer to ensure the piercing isn't torn in the process.
Wait about a month before you stretch it up. Use surgical steel and not acrylic. 18ga-14ga is pretty easy so you shouldn't need tapers or tape. And never ever pierce yourself again ;)
You don't wear tapers as jewelry. They thin out the middle of your lobe which may stop you from stretching up later. If you're at 12ga, you buy a 10ga taper. You only need one because after you use it for stretching up, you put a plug in.
Just to let you know, people will take you more seriously if you say stretch instead of gauge. Obviously, your ears have to be pierced. Then you stretch up using tapers- you remove the tapers after stretching and put in plugs for long-term wear. You don't wear tapers because they thin out your lobes. You wait at least 2-3 months between each stretch from16ga to 8ga. Then you'll have to wait a while longer depending on what method you use to stretch. Once you hit 8ga, you have the option of taping. Its pretty simple, just look up the specific info on your own. Tapers aren't really effective beyond 2ga. Don't skip sizes and don't wear acrylic, wood, or bone until your lobes are completely healed. This is just basic info. Look up specific information and guidelines if you decide to go through with it.
They will never stretch if you take them out, they need to be left in 24 hours a day so the tissue will stretch. If you have stretching questions you should go talk to your local professional body piercer for guidance.
You can use tapers to stretch them up but you can't wear them....for obvious reasons.
They are just tapers that react to a black light. Kind of like UV paint that glows.
If the object is of the same width and tapers from thick to thin, it may be a wedge.
Tapers aren't jewelry.. you have them in for about 10-15 minutes then change it with the plugs but don't take to long to change them. Tapers aren't made to stay in your ear for long or it will mess your ears up.
