Few antibiotics affect Birth Control; examples inlude rifampin, griseofulvin, and a few HIV medications. For those antibiotics that do affect birth control, the length of time that the effect lasts depends on the mechanism of interference. Contact your health care provider for advice specific to your medication.

It's safest to take 7 active pills after your last antibiotic to ensure full effectiveness. If there aren't 7 active pills left in your pill pack before the placebos, the 7 pills starts the first week of the next pack.

If the birth control fully works, there won't BE a fetus, birth control will do nothing about an impregnated egg or the baby that it will result in.

Can antibiotics interfere with the pill?

Yes, antibiotics decrease the effects of the pill and you may potentially become pregnant. Alternative forms of contraception should be used while taking antibiotics. My physicians have always told me to continue alternative contraception for at least 2 weeks after you have finished the antibiotics so that the pill has ample time to become fully effective again.

Will anything bad happen if you take a birth control pill in the middle of your cycle?

Can amoxcilllin the antibiotic delay your period?

if you're on birth control and you're taking amoxicillin and you have unprotected sex you can get pregnant, because amoxicillin and many other antibiotics can decrease the affectiveness of birth control by half. So if you are on birth control, and you are taking amoxicillin, and you had unprotected sex you could be pregnant. Otherwise you're period could just be late because you are getting over an illness or you're body is fighting an infection.

I started birth control because i hadn't had my period over two months but i didnt wait to get my period When will birth control start protecting me?

Did you take a pregnancy test? If in the unlikely scenario that you AREN'T pregnant, it will take a few months for the pills to re-schedule your hormones. That is why you are supposed to begin taking it immediately after a period. Because it works on your body's schedule. It may be somewhat effective after a few weeks, but not fully for a few months. Birth does not work as an abortion method, so if that's what you were going for, you are still pregnant.

When is my safiest day to have safe sex if i took birth control pills for 4 days and then i stop using it?

there is no safe days if you only took it for four days, its only effective from the first day of your period if you take it consistently, if you start during the month then you need to be on it for a month before its fully effective, only 4 days taking it is not going to stop you getting pregnant. its not worth the risk, start taking it again or use a condom.

No period on my first week of taking the pill?

You should start the new pack on schedule regardless of the presence or absence of bleeding. Take a pregnancy test if you're having symptoms of pregnancy or have missed any pills. Missing a period on birth control is a possible side effect. If it repeats and you find it troublesome, talk to your health care provider about a possible prescription change.
