When you are on the pill the montly period is actually a withdrawal bleed. It was included in the original pill instructions to comfort women that their cycles were normal and that they weren't pregnant. There is now no medical evidence to suggest that the combined pill shouldn't be used continously (thus skipping periods entirely).
There is also only a small health risk from taking the pill for a number of years provided you are under 45, normal weight and normal blood pressure.

You ovulate two weeks before menstruation - thus the soonest you'd skip a period is that first period, two weeks after you get pregnant.

as long as you skip the inactive pills and do not miss any of the second pack you should be ok. i have done it before and had no problem, but remember you are delaying your period so it will be eager to start again so do remember to take them and dont forget any. also its advised that you only occaisionally skip your period but yeah for your holiday you should be ok.
You won't have a period as long as you're taking the pill, but as soon as you come off it you'll have a period. You shouldn't take the pill for more than 21 consecutive days before giving yourself a 7 day break from it due to build-up of hormones.
