The house was originally Jacob Marleys. Upon his death Scrooge took it over. He reneted some areas as offices and lodgings. He made himself a smaller area. It was sparsely furnished yet what was left was of good quality furniture. It was dark, lit only by sparingly placed candles and a small coal fires
