Sal doesn't like Mrs. Cadaver in the beginning of the book because her Father is seeing her while her mother is missing. She does'nt want anyone to replace her missing mother.
In the book "Walk Two Moons" by Sharon Creech, the Whispering Trees are a symbol of Sal's mother and her presence in Sal's life. Sal hears whispers in the trees as a way to feel connected to her mother and find comfort during her journey.
Not at all in any way in my opinion, I have met several people who seem to feel it is. I see absolutely no wrong to thinking for yourself, but it is really an opinion i suppose.......though i do feel very strongly one way on this one.
Sal should assess the risks, try to reduce them, and make the change.
Why are you suppose to hate this person? Love is a feeling that can grow for a person. If you love this person, that's a natural feeling. Hopefully they feel the same way about you.
Sal's mother kisses the tree as a way to honor her deceased husband, Sal's father. It is a gesture of love and remembrance, connecting her to his memory through nature. The tree symbolizes their strong bond and serves as a place of solace for her grief.
I suppose it is their supervisor in a way.
To stir the imagination, I suppose. Maybe it's a feel good for people who can't find any real way of getting back at those causing them distress.

In Chapter 34 of "Walk Two Moons," Gram, Gramps, and Sal visit the Monument Valley, a beautiful and majestic landmark that Sal's mother always wanted to see. Sal experiences a sense of peace and fulfillment while visiting the site, feeling connected to her mother in a spiritual way.
In chapters 23-33 of "Walk Two Moons," Sal continues her journey with her grandparents to find her mother. Along the way, Sal learns more about her mother's past and her friendships with Margaret and Mrs. Cadaver. Sal also begins to piece together the truth about her mother's disappearance and how it relates to her own life.
