I use to work testing laptop panels using LEM pixinator. If you use a newer PC then it may be possible. The trick is getting analog laptop panel to sinc with newer AGP card. then there is an issue of converting the data cable to VGA or DVI and inverting the power 5 or 10 volt. Radio Shack probably has the hardware to convert the power. not to difficult. the data cable lead can be bought online or possibley salvaged from the laptop it came from. then you will need to join that cable to a VGA adapter.
If the two PC's are networked, you can use the MaxiVista software, which extends your primary PC screen onto one (or more) network available PCs. The software is very simple to install.
Most laptops have a 15 pin connector on the back, which is the standard monitor cable connector. Most LCD/plasma TVs also have a 15 pin connector also, so you can go into your nearest computer/electronics store and pick up a 6ft 15pin monitor cable for under $20. If it is a modern laptop, it may have HDMI instead, in which case you can connect it to a HDMI monitor or most LCD/plasma TVs.
Buy a vga male to male cable. Make sure your PC and laptop, both have female VGA inputs. it looks like it has about 12 dots (a vga input) and also looks similar to a weird rectangle.

Cost: $30 - you can download a free trial (http://www.maxivista.com/) Also see download.com review: http://www.download.com/MaxiVista/3000-2346_4-10420128.html?tag=lst-0-1
Two ways:
VGA: the VGA cable has fits in the side or back of the laptop, and in the back or side of the PC monitor, this connection is not for HD, it is just a simple and cheap connection (if you are looking for a cable you will need a VGA Male to Male Connector) this is also good if you do not have HDMI on your laptop, or on your monitor.
HDMI: for HD resolution and richer graphics, if your laptop has a HDMI port and a HDMI port on the monitor this is a good cable to get, but expensive.
How to connect: place one side into your laptop, and the other into the computer monitor, you will be prompted whether you want it to show on both screens, just the monitor, or if you want it extended, select duplicate. it will then appear on your PC monitor.
I didn't connect a PC to my laptop before, but i connected PC with my portable monitor (viewshocker).
My portable monitor likes a laptop screen with 15.6 inch or 11.6 inch.
It is very convenient to connect (plug-in and good to go).
you could Google viewshocker with their website named feilitu
Plug in the desktop monitor to the laptop and turn the laptop. if nothing comes up, go to desplay settings.
There is no difference in functionality of laptop and desktop. you can do same work as you can does with your desktop
No, this will not work. Laptop video cards are designed for the laptop they are installed in. They are not removable from the laptop and do not have the same connections that a desktop has anyway.
Yes, you can use your laptop without a battery as a desktop, but it can be damaged the laptop components.
A monitor is the viewing screen, a desktop consists of your cpu, computer components.
If the laptop is no longer under warranty, the cost of fixing the monitor would likely be more than the cost of the laptop. However, you can connect the laptop to any desktop monitor, you just need to buy a simple connector you can get at most any computer store, and you could also buy a used desktop monitor for very little.
no you can not do this. you can only use an external monitor on the laptop.
No. The DVI port on your computer is output only. However, you may be able to find a USB TV tuner card with DVI input that would allow you to pull this off.
Basically, a laptop is designed to be portable, and can run off an internal battery until the battery goes flat. A desktop is designed to sit on a desk, table, workstation, etc, and is not meant to be portable. Unlike the more compact laptop, the desktop usually has an external monitor, keyboard and mouse, and is unlikely to have an internal battery. Both the laptop and desktop can be run off the mains.
Yes, you can. Just your desktop to the router which have recently got. You will able to use your laptop as well as your desktop.

Considering what you need a computer to do should help determine whether to purchase a computer or laptop. Laptops are good for people who need a computer that can move with them.
