Honestly, I wouldn't just come out and say it. Just start to talk about the guy, and tell how he's nice and some of his great qualities. And make sure his name is commonly heard to your dad so it won't come as such a shock. Then after talking about him just see how your dad responds to what you say about him. Does he seem to like him? If so then tell him. If not I'd give it a little longer so your dad can warm up to the idea that this bf is going to protect you and not hurt you. Hope all goes good!
