Try a note; girls love receiving notes, as we easily get embarrassed around our friends. Also try and be mysterious at first- maybe sent a couple of notes then sign your name and also don't so it directly as this is just as embarrassing.
You could tell her face to face or in a note but don't send your friend because that will tell her that you aren't confident and girls like boys who are confident. DON'T tell her friend! Girls hate that. Just be brave. I'm a girl and I would hate to have my friend 'deliver' the message to me. I was in the same situation as you. If you don't have the courage to just tell her, than try to become friends with her. Start giving her subtle hints that you like her, but let her figure it out on her own.
