Is it marked with Chinese characters or in the Cyrilic alphabet? <><><> As above. In addition, MOST Russian SKS rifles had blade style bayonets. MOST Chinese rifle had a spike type bayonet. But marlings are the defintive answer.

It's difficult for people of Western origin to see the difference, but many Japanese, Chinese, and Koreans can tell the difference right away. Physically, the eyelids are different. Culturally, the way they dress, act, and present themselves is also an indicator.

First, it would help to figure what the rifle itself is - the serial number does not tell that.
There is no way to tell by the serial number. Look up photos on the web, for B-1 or B-3. these are the most common models. Chinese models are made by "BAM", "Shanghai" or Xisico. These are the most common.
You can tell if you have a Browning Gold Medallion Boss Rifle by looking at the stamp on the barrel. It lists the model of the rifle as well as its serial number.

you can tell how old a rifle is buy finding who made the rifle,the model number and then the serial number.with that info then you could ask that question just like you asked this one.
