How do you tell male or female of a chickadee?

The female cockateils will constantly talk while the males normally sit there and listen.

Once the females hit puberty they will start laying eggs, that is the easiest way to tell. The other way is to feel the bone around their pubic region - close bones means a male, and further apart bones means a female. You have to hold them quite firmly though - as you can imagine they do not like you doing it.
