Cook Island Maori is different - though similarΒ  to- NZ Maori. Kirihi mete is a NZ Maori transliteration, the phrase is usually Nga Mihi oe te Kirihimete (me to Tau Hou) (and a Happy New Year)Β

What a load of old Nonsense. Cook Islanders speak Maori and Samoic languages - depending on which of the many islands they are from. Rarotonga is Cook Island Maori.
