Have a gunsmith verify the exact 270 chambering. <><><> Agree. The standard .270 cannot fire the .270 WSM, and vice versa.
Bullet diameter
yes
Not as it comes from the factory. It is offered in 7 different calibers- the .270 Short Magnum is not one of those.
No
Need to know if it's a bolt action or a semi-auto.
There is a little pin in the back end of the bolt- push it through, it will be difficult as there is a spring that binds the pin. I used a drill bit on mine to get it out. Once that pin is removed, the whole thing comes apart. You will need to remove the pin that is in the handle but that just falls out. Hope this helps!
Last year I paid $550 for a very good condition used Rem 650 .270 win.
Best left to a factory trained gunsmith.
unload the gun first. remove mag nut and barrel. Now the O ring and rings. Make sure to remember location and placement. Pull the bolt handle out, it comes straight out with a hand pull. In the loading port you will see the mag stop on the side. This stop keeps the bolt from coming out. When you push this stop to the side you will notice the bolt and carrier comes out the front of the action. Now take the bolt in hand. You can see the firing pin and what is needed to replace it. Make sure to clean everything while it is down. Replace in reverse. Best of luck.
Yes. I own a Ruger M77 Hawkeye in 280 Rem. It plain levels whitetails out to 200 yds, with a 140 gr. bullet. My only suggestion is that if you don't reload, start. 280 Rem is not as popular as the 270 Win or the 30-06 Sprfld, so ammo is not as readily available.
Oh, dude, disassembling and reassembling a bolt on a Marlin 925M rifle is like, super easy. You just gotta make sure you're in a well-lit area, unscrew the bolt handle, remove the firing pin assembly, and then clean and oil everything before putting it back together. It's like playing with a big, metal puzzle - just don't lose any pieces!
